measi's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of the year medical appointments I am becoming the type of person my dad grumbles about-- the one that waits until the end of the year to go to the doctor before my bennies for the year are over and I waste a year's worth of payments. See, my dad has his busiest month in December. Women get scheduled for hysterectomies a lot in December. He has more gyn appointments scheduled, because let's face it-- we women hate the blasted things. And here I am on November 6th making all of my last-minute med appointments-- notably eye and teeth. And the only reason is because I've had a dull toothache since Monday, and I'm worried I have a cavity. (and if it's hurting, that means it's a deep one). But if the tooth is the problem, I need to go in, regardless. Because it can't wait any longer. *sigh* Since I had to switch plans last October during open enrollment, I've never been to my current dentist. They were highly recommended by a couple of co-workers, though, and I can handle just about anything after my god-awful orthodontist in high school. After all-- this is a twice per year thing at most, right? It's been a while since I've had a cleaning-- about a year and a half or so. I'm bad, I know. I just hate going because I have a permanent retainer glued on the inside of my six front teeth on my bottom jaw, and when they have to use that pick to get around it, it hurts like hell. They'll be doing X-Rays tomorrow since I'm a new patient-- perhaps I should warn them about the metal plate on the sides of my lower jaw so they don't freak when they see REALLY BIG WHITE GLOWING BARS on the X-Ray. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has these things, but whenever I go to the dentist, I feel weird about it. Bionic Mel with her metallic jaw. Le sigh.
