measi's Diaryland Diary

Back to work...

Going back to work after two weeks in a row of four-day weekends is hellish. I've been watching the clock all day. It doesn't help that the first three hours of my day were spent trying to bribe my computer to start... again. There's something wrong with the startup disk on my poor iMac at work. It just really doesn't like to boot up in the morning.

I knew this. I keep the computer on overnight, and just log out (since OS X created that nifty little feature). But soemone decided on Wednesday to turn my computer off as they left. Undoubtedly out of "Oh, Mel forgot... let me do this for her" consideration... but still. *sigh*

There is now a bright pink sticky on the top of my monitor that says "please do not turn off!!!" Or at least, there will be when I leave the office every day. I can't stand looking at it for eight hours per day against the pure whiteness that is my office iMac. Everything seems to be fixed now... at least in the short term. I'm sure the problem will come up eventually. The techs are aware of it and have seen it on other newer Macs, but can't find the root problem (even in the logs). So we'll see.

Meanwhile I've had a day of phone calls, organizing, and updating. The 2003 calendars came down. The 2004 ones went up. My remaining data entry stack for 2003 got sorted-- it's about a foot high (down from 30 inches at first check last Monday). I'll be whittling on that until Jason and I head home this afternoon. My new planner pages were put in the binder so I can keep some semblance of life organization and know which end is up. The old ones were taken out. And my address pages were updated over the weekend.

Now if I can just get through this pit that is my cubicle. And shut the people up in the office nearby who think that it's romper room around here. *sigh* I miss the quiet from last week...

My two weekends off wound up being quite productive. I was happy. :) I didn't get everything done on my to do list, but I got a good chunk done, or am still working on it. Some stuff has to wait until I get through the current penpalling project... so they'll be completed this week.

And doing laundry will help get the place clean enough to vaccuum again...

I'd like to get through as much as I can so I can relax on Sunday to celebrate the last year of my extended childhood twenties. Yessir... twenty-nine. Ah, the wrath of time is coming, no?

Dare I ask what this year's horoscope will bring?
