measi's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- just a pleasant rainy Sunday No real words of wit and wisdom today. I'm a bit sleepy, due both to my coughing and to the little ball of fluff who's discovered how to climb up the four feet to my bed... an ability that he uses only at four a.m., of course. I've discovered something about the kitten yesterday morning. He's actually not black. He's a dark brown-- seal color. AND he's a tabby. The stripes are very visible in the light. I'll bet that he's going to lighten up as he loses the kitten fur and become a very pretty mix of chestnut and seal brown. He's already getting a ruddy-brown color on the top of his head near his ears. So all of those nifty "black cat" names will be saved for another fuzzball in the future. :) This guy's Mephisto.... to be known more commonly as Fizzy. :) Fizzy is doing well. He's active, eating well, using his litter box (thank god!) and acting like a healthy, happy kitten should. He's not exploring too much yet, but I think that's partially because he's still overwhelmed and partially because Colley's been a bit severe about keeping him in line. Once Colley accepts that the little guy has understood that Colley is Alpha Male (which I think he has), it should get a bit better. They're actually doing pretty well. They're curling up to sleep within a couple feet of each other. But every once in a while, Colley gives him a whap. But for the most part, it's been more a slightly distant curiosity. Colley leaves him alone and observes him... probably confused about how this furball is moving on its own power. He goes up, tries to sniff him, and Fizzy gives him a bit of a hiss since he's been head-whacked. Sibling arguments. Gotta love 'em. As long as there is no biting, I'll let them figure it out. But they seem to be doing fine. And yes, dear Finn and Hooligan, I have become Fizzy's thrall already... he's even mastered the art of climbing to my shoulder, and then trying to attempt to climb down to my ass.
