It's this kind of thing that REALLY pisses me off...

Chalk up another religious emphasis for this week. I was checking recent articles on the Witches' Voice, and came across this article from Charleston, SC's Channel 4:

Shocking Discovery At Angel Oak

Charleston --It was a shocking discovery at one of Charleston's most tranquil places: a human placenta with an umbilical cord still attached was found at Angel Oak. And some are wondering if witchcraft was involved.

On Sunday afternoon, Charleston police responded to a call at Angel oak that said some body parts had been found under the tree. They later found out it was a placenta.

Police did search the area for a fetus or other parts but nothing was found. Although it's not against the law to dispose of a placenta, one bystander on Sunday believes itis strange and has his suspicions.

Rick Stanton says 'I didn't think it was a girl who had her baby under that tree.. but that some person or persons had come out there for some type of a ceremony. Someone said a group of wiccans had been out there the night before and that's when I put 2 and 2 together.'

Although police still have no idea who left the placenta. The wiccans, a religious sect, do practice many rituals. College of Charleston religious expert Dr. June McDaniel says the wiccans are welcoming the season, and everboyd had to write down a wish that they had and put it in the fire, and they would say 'I hope this is something that happens' or 'I hope this is something I get rid of.'

The wiccans are very non-violent people and believe it's important to be kind. It's believed there are about 200,000 wiccans in the U-S. Experts don't expect the wiccan religion to enter the American mainstream soon, but it's gaining in popularity.

Now go read my entry from yesterday, and my need to stay in the broom closet will probably make more sense. Not only do Wiccans NOT do sacrifices in their rituals... but ... grrrr...
